Go Outdoors: Local Children Enjoy Community Summer Projects

Our Neighbourhood Engagement Team organised a range of school holiday projects for local children and families to encourage them to go outdoors and keep active over the summer months.

Children in Miles Platting enjoyed energetic sports sessions and a fun-filled summer event organised by Officer Gemma.

Gemma teamed up with MCR Active to deliver the weekly sports sessions at Park View Primary School where families also received lunch and food packs provided by the community grocer.

The summer event session, supported by Neighbourhoods, MCR Active and MCC Library, included exciting inflatable games, an assault course, summer crafts and a selfie station. Information about Jigsaw’s services and food was also provided to families.

In Stalybridge, our Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Deanne, ran a Community Forest School Project with Claire, an independent Forest School teacher, to encourage local children to explore the natural environment while learning to care, value and protect nature.

A total of 22 children got stuck into the project and learned about bugs and insects as well as creating a communal bug hotel.

Another session will be taking place on 24 September so local children can continue to have a hands on experience with the natural world.
