Jigsaw Foundation awards Manchester Carers Forum £11,540

One of Adactus Housing’s last grants for 2019 has been awarded to Manchester Carers Forum, who has been awarded a grant of £11,540 over a two year period. The project will support over 300 carers who provide care for, and assist, loved ones living with health problems and disabilities. Many carers do this alone, not recognising the value of what they do and are often left with no support for themselves.

Manchester Carers Forum runs sessions that bring carers together for the peer support they desperately need to enable them to keep on caring for the people who depend on them.

People can make friends, hear from guest speakers, access workshops and take part in activities. Recently, a carer summed up the group she attends as “the only place where I can just be me.”

The monthly groups take place near our neighbourhoods in Blackley, Cheetham Hill, Gorton and Hulme.

If you know of a resident who is a carer and you would like more information to share with them, please email Jigsawfoundation@jigsawhomes.org.uk

The Jigsaw Foundation has a budget of £500,000 per year and offers funds for projects which make a difference to the lives of our residents and their communities. The fund is open to charities, resident and community groups, voluntary organisations, social enterprises and local partner agencies.

Residents have the opportunity to decide which community projects they would like to see receive future funding through our Jigsaw Rewards fund.
