Residents Celebrate Return of Manchester Caribbean Carnival

The Manchester Caribbean Carnival took place last weekend, bringing all the colours and flavours of the Caribbean to Alexandra Park in Moss Side after a two-year break.

As Jigsaw Homes are proud sponsors of the event, Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement team set up a tent alongside other housing providers for residents to visit and enjoy fun-filled activities.

Sally Pritchard, Housing and Customer Manager, and Asmina Choudhury, Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, organised arts and crafts for children to get stuck into.

These activities were based on England’s success at the Women’s Euros and included designing a football boot, designing a football shirt keyring and colour in a football-shaped bat and ball.

The carnival also included a vibrant street parade with music, dancing and food stalls on offer to celebrate 50 years since the carnival first came to Moss Side.

Sally Pritchard said “It was lovely to attend the carnival after two years and take part in such a fun celebration of Caribbean culture. All the families and children who visited us really enjoyed themselves and all got stuck into the activities we had provided.
