Pot of Gold for Rainbow Surprise Community Group

A community group in Manchester is helping to brighten up the days of residents thanks to £20,608 in funding from the Jigsaw Foundation.

The funding will allow Rainbow Surprise to deliver a breakfast club, and weekly beauty therapy workshops, sewing and knitting classes to more than 70 people.

Based in Crumpsall, the breakfast club is open to everyone and aims to provide a nutritious meal to those who may struggle to afford it or are unable to cook. The sessions also encourage residents to learn a new skill and grow their self esteem and confidence.

Shabnam Hussain, Project Manager at Rainbow Surprise, said: “I can’t express what difference the funding is making to these people. Without your support, we would have not been able to put these activities on.

“The sewing class has had such an impact as these ladies would otherwise have been at home not doing anything. This is not just a skill they are learning, they are making friends, which is helping with their mental health.”
