Jigsaw Homes’ Grounds Maintenance team pitched in to rejuvenate a green space at our Bryn Road development and supported scheme in Ashton-in-Makerfield, Wigan.
Derrick Wareing, Assistant Manager – Grounds Maintenance, and Darryl Robinson, Grounds Maintenance Regional Supervisor, planted two pear trees and two apple trees in the scheme’s communal area to ensure residents have a peaceful space to enjoy and can take pride in their area.
The team are pictured with Alan Brown, Springboard Keyworker, Megan Edwards, Keyworker, and residents Mandy, Anthony and Chris.
It is hoped residents will be able to pick and eat fruit from the trees once they grow.
Lynsey Sime, Jigsaw’s Supported Housing Team Leader, organised the planting day with local councillor Steve Jones who helped to arrange and fund the project.
Lynsey said: “We had a meeting with Cllr Jones and discussed ways we could help communities. We thought it would be a wonderful opportunity to plant some trees that would benefit local people, including our supported housing residents.
“Thank you so much Derrick and the team for all your help and support – it has been invaluable.”
