JET Helps 250 Residents Soar with Qualifications

The Jigsaw Employment Team (JET) has worked hard to provide training to residents and has now hit a major milestone with 250 people receiving Food Hygiene Level 2 qualifications since April 2023.

This is the highest number of people JET has ever provided food training to within one financial year.

A total of 199 people passed classroom training with neighbourhood officers delivering the one-day accredited courses across Tameside, Chorley, Oldham and the East Midlands with a further 51 people also completing an online course.

Recently, the team held a training course in Manchester City Centre where 16 women from Women Seeking Asylum Together (WAST) learned about the importance of correct food handling, storage and cooking and how they can keep within the law when responsible for preparing food for the public.

Eunice Manu, WAST Grassroots Co-Ordinator, said: “On behalf of the WAST women in Manchester, I want to thank Jigsaw for providing the food hygiene training to enlighten the women on the important principles of food hygiene.

“They felt empowered and they will be creating a safer and healthier environment for themselves and the WAST space where we meet and learn. Your dedication is much appreciated and we look forward to the next session.”
