Black History Month

Black History Month

This month is Black History Month, the annual celebration of history, achievements and contributions of black people in the UK.

Black History Month was launched in London in 1987 with the aim of helping communities, challenge racism and educate themselves and others about the history thats  was not taught in schools.

Events celebrating African and Caribbean cultures will take place across the country until October 31st.

From films and music to online exhibitions, live events and conversations streamed through social media, there are plenty of inspirational and thought-provoking activities to join in.

And, in line with our newly revised Equality, Diversity & Inclusion policy, Jigsaw Homes Group will be marking the month with a creative competition and sharing thoughts from our colleagues about what Black History Month means to them.

We will also be launching a resident competition, so please look out for those details coming soon.
