Active Streets Helping Keep Kids Busy

Active Streets Helping Keep Kids Busy

We recently helped children and families in Miles Platting to ‘reclaim the streets’ during the half-term holidays.

Jigsaw Homes North’s Neighbourhood Engagement Team helped Manchester City Council and Buzz Health and Wellbeing host Active Streets – a community event that transformed Bollington Road into a safe pop-up sports space.

The road was closed off as residents were invited to take part in various activities from tennis, basketball, hula hooping, skipping and Connect 4.

A community clean-up and litter pick were also encouraged to help maintain the surrounding area.

Sarah Keenan, Jigsaw Rewards, Scrutiny and Foundation Manager, Housing Officer Billy Hoyle and Gemma Bennet, Neighbourhood Engagement Officer, were on hand to advise residents throughout the day about joining Jigsaw Rewards and the Jigsaw Foundation programme, as well as handing out energy advice leaflets.

Following the success of this event, we are now planning another street play event for future school holidays. If you want to get involved, make sure you look out for future activities.
