Edge View Scoops Shared Ownership Scheme of the Year Award

Jigsaw Homes’ stunning development Edge View in Long Preston, Craven, has won the Shared Ownership Scheme of the Year award at the Northern Housing Awards 2022.

Nestled within the Yorkshire Dales National Park, this development of eight shared ownership properties, together with eight for affordable rent, wowed the judges with its complete transformation of a disused farm building to bring new, affordable homes to a local conservation area.

With the surrounding backdrop an area of ‘Outstanding Beauty’, each home was designed to fit in with the traditional character of Long Preston and provide home-owners the opportunity to live in a breath-taking rural area where no shared ownership properties had been built in over five years.

All eight shared ownership properties were sold within just one month through Snugg Homes, part of the Jigsaw Group, and all purchasers had a local connection to the village. This was Jigsaw’s first Homes England grant-funded scheme in Craven.

Operations Director of Development Garnet Fazackerley said: “This development busts the myth that affordable and shared ownership properties are only in urban areas and city centres. We are proud to have delivered these homes sensitively in this conservation area and delighted that they were bought by local residents, who would otherwise have been priced out of the market.”

Joining the winners at the awards ceremony, which took place at The Point, Emirates Old Trafford in Manchester, were Greater Manchester Housing First, of which Jigsaw Support is a partner.

GMHF was presented with the Best Initiative for Tackling Homelessness Award. The pilot programme has helped more than 300 of the most vulnerable people in the region into their own homes.
