Our Neighbourhood Engagement Team is supporting residents across our communities by helping them tackle the ongoing cost of living crisis.
In Chorley, over 120 residents attended two consecutive ‘Staying Warm and Well’ events and received support by learning useful ways to save money on their energy bills.
Officer Tracy Townson hosted the event alongside partners Chorley Council, Citizen’s Advice, Chorley Help the Homeless, DWP, Women’s group, SVP Chorley Buddies, Health Watch and Social Prescribers.
Jigsaw provided fresh food market vouchers, winter packs and a wide range of advice which included energy, finance and health and wellbeing support.
Woodchats coffee house also dished out freshly made hot soup and a bread roll and local knitting group Knit and Natter, which was funded by our Neighbourhoods team, gave out their very own hand-knitted hats and scarves to residents.
In Arnold, Officer Martin Curtis and Kay Hargreaves, our Welfare Benefits Advisor, attended Gedling Council’s Challenge Poverty event to highlight Jigsaw’s many support services to residents.
The event, which was also attended by Citizen’s Advice, DWP and Gedling Council, aimed to inform residents about the many support services available to them in the face of the rising cost of living.
Our team shared energy advice, information about our Jigsaw Employment Team and budgeting, debt, and welfare benefits guidance.
