Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement Team held a host of ‘cost of living’ events for residents in Chorley to help provide useful information, support and guidance for those struggling.
Neighbourhood Engagement Officer Tracy Townson organised three events which took place at Coppull Library, Buttermere Community Centre and Adlington Library in December.
A total of 170 people from within the community attended the events and were welcomed with a cost of living pack, a hot drink and meal and a warm space to have a chat. Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood team also purchased over £2000 worth of fresh food market vouchers from Chorley Help the Homeless and gave these out to individuals and families.
Other partner organisations also got involved to help support at the event including Lancashire volunteer service, Utility Warehouse, Friends of Coppull Library and NHS social prescribers.
Jigsaw’s Neighbourhood Engagement team also hosted ‘cooking with a microwave’ sessions in Chorley in partnership with Lancashire Adult Learning.
These sessions aim to help residents save money by learning how to cook with a microwave rather than using a costly oven or hob.
They learned how to cook vegetable soup and corn beef hash and realised that a microwave can also be used to help create delicious fresh meals.
