The Spinnerettes

The Spinnerettes

Residents at The Spinney, an elderly care scheme managed by Beech Housing Association, have formed an outdoor exercise group which they are calling ‘The Spinnerettes’.

Each day residents in the area meet outside their homes while maintaining social distancing and take part in 30 minute activities including dancing, mobility exercises or just chatting. The sessions have been taking place at midday everyday come rain or shine.

With some of the residents upwards of 90 years old with limited mobility, this has created a great way for them to reduce loneliness and inactivity during lockdown, even if it’s just for 30 minutes a day.

Keep it up, Spinnerettes!
