Pennington House residents get crafty

Every Thursday afternoon at 2 pm, residents from Pennington House, Leigh, have been hosting craft sessions, with many other local residents coming down to the communal lounge to take part.

They have been getting involved in various activities including knitting, crochet, painting by numbers and making bracelets and necklaces. Others just come down for a chatter, cup of tea
and refreshments.

The craft afternoon, led by Gemma Lewis, Retirement Housing Team Leader, has been recurring for quite a few months now and is still
going strong.

Residents are thoroughly enjoying the creativity of the classes as they reminisce from years ago; a couple of residents found out that they lived near to each other and never knew. It has proved to be a great way to bring the residents together for some social fun and encourage them to develop their creative sides.

Two months ago, the residents also decided to have a fish and chip dinner once a month. One of the residents takes everyone’s order, rings the chip shop and they deliver it to Pennington House.
This has been very successful and has allowed the residents to enjoy a treat whilst sharing memories and creating news ones.
