Half-Term Holiday Fun for Families

Half-Term Holiday Fun for Families

Our Neighbourhood Engagement Team hosted a range of half term activities for children and families across our communities to enjoy over the holidays.

At the Holy Trinity Community Centre in Ashton, Oldham Play Action Group joined Officer Minaz Aslam to host a crafty event for children. They created artworks themed around the environment, dinosaurs, under the sea and unicorns, played games and tucked into a tasty lunch.

A total of 88 adults and children attended the session which aimed to tackle children living in poverty and financial wellbeing.

Minaz Aslam said “This was a very well attended event for the families and the children in this community. Thank you for the staff from OPAG that facilitated this event. We managed to sign up five new families to the Ashton Community Grocer on the day too.”

At the Jigsaw Home and Community Hub in Hazelhurst, Jigsaw funded an arts and crafts session for families, which was also coordinated by artist Samantha Edwards.

Children helped to create a window display at the hub, had their faces painted and made lots of colourful crafts to take home.

In Chorley, free arts and crafts activities for families were organised by Officer Tracy Townson with Sarah’s Studio and volunteer Chris Taylor at Tatton Green gardens.

Tracy also led a plant potting day at Duke Street Family Centre with Growing for Goodness and volunteer Lisa Beard. Families received a packed lunch and took away £10 worth vouchers for the local garden centre to spend on their own seeds and plants for their own garden.
